Nothing we recommend pays us a fee. Not a gallery, not a maker, not a hotel. Most advice in this world is paid for twice — once by you, and once by whoever supplied the answer. Here there is no answer we are paid to prefer, which is the only reason the recommendation is worth anything. It also means being told to wait, to pass, or that the thing you already own is better than what you were about to replace it with.
How It Works
A conversation, then an answer you can act on.
1
You write with the decision in front of you. A sentence is enough to begin.
2
We talk — usually a call, in person if you are in New York.
3
You receive a written recommendation: what to do, what to avoid, and what it should cost. Named makers, named dealers, named rooms.
4
Where an introduction helps, it is made. Where it does not, we say so.
