Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the use of thira.co (“Website”), operated by Sakae, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the parent company of Thira. By accessing or using the Website—including any of its stories, objects, guides, membership, or advisory services—you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Website.

Thira is an editorial and advisory practice anchored in art and culture, design, style, and travel. Based in New York and named for a still island in Greece, it operates across two arms: Editorial, comprising stories, objects, and guides; and Advisory, comprising Bespoke Itineraries, Art Advisory, and Seasonal Interiors. All transactions on the Website are processed by Sakae, Inc.

The Website is intended for users aged 18 and above. By using the Website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.

1. Overview of Services

The Website offers original editorial writing (“stories”), curated objects (“objects”), city guides (“guides”), a paid membership, and information about advisory services. Some content is freely accessible; other areas require a paid membership or purchase. We reserve the right to modify, expand, or restrict access to any portion of the Website at any time.

2. Data Collection and Privacy

Sakae, Inc. collects personal data including name, email address, billing and shipping information, payment data, login credentials, and analytics and tracking data via cookies and third-party tools including Google Analytics. Non-essential cookies require your explicit consent, managed via our consent banner.

We do not sell personal data or use it for third-party advertising. Full details on how we collect, use, store, and protect your data—and your rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA—are set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the Website, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described there.

3. Membership

3.1 What Membership Includes

Thira membership is by invitation. Annual membership is $499 USD, billed on the date you join, and renews automatically unless cancelled. Membership includes access to all stories, objects, and guides, Member’s Morning delivered every Monday, and invitations to private member events. Guides are also available separately.

3.2 Auto-Renewal Notice

Your membership will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle at the then-current annual rate. You will be charged to the payment method on file unless you cancel before the renewal date. To cancel, write to membership@thira.co at least seven days before your renewal date.

3.3 Account Responsibilities

By joining, you agree to provide accurate and current information and to keep your login credentials confidential. Memberships are personal and non-transferable. Sharing account access is strictly prohibited.

3.4 Cancellation and Refunds

Memberships may be cancelled at any time by writing to membership@thira.co. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle; access continues through that date. Membership fees are non-refundable, including for partial periods.

4. Guides

Guides are available to members as part of membership and sold separately to non-members. Digital guides include a print-friendly PDF edition and full web access. Purchases are final. No refunds are issued once access has been granted. If a guide becomes permanently inaccessible due to a technical failure on our part, we may issue store credit at our discretion. Guides are updated periodically; purchase does not guarantee any particular update schedule or future revisions.

5. Objects

Objects features two types of products: items handled directly by Sakae, Inc. (“Thira-handled Orders”) and items fulfilled by third-party partner brands (“Partner-handled Orders”).

Affiliate Disclosure: Some objects featured on the Website are sourced from third-party partner brands. When you select “Buy” on a partner item, you are redirected to the partner’s website. Sakae, Inc. may receive an affiliate commission if a purchase is completed through our link. This does not affect the price you pay. We only feature products that meet our editorial standards, regardless of any commercial relationship.

5.1 Thira-handled Orders

Thira-handled orders include Sakae, Inc.-produced items and print guides. For these orders, Sakae, Inc. manages the full transaction—payment, shipping, returns, and exchanges.

Availability and Pricing. All prices are listed in USD and may exclude applicable sales tax. Pricing and availability may change without notice. We reserve the right to discontinue items or modify listings at our discretion.

Payment. By placing an order, you agree to provide accurate billing and shipping details. Payment is processed via secure third-party services. Sakae, Inc. does not store or process credit card data directly.

Shipping. We aim to dispatch in-stock orders within 2–4 business days. Shipping confirmation and tracking details are sent once your order is on its way. We work with USPS, UPS, DHL, and local couriers depending on your region. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout. For international orders, customers are responsible for any applicable import duties, VAT, or local taxes. Estimated delivery windows are not guaranteed.

Delivery Issues. If your order is marked as delivered but not received, contact the carrier directly. If your package is lost in transit, contact us at editorial@thira.co. Please ensure your shipping address is accurate—orders returned due to incorrect addresses may incur reshipping fees.

Returns. Full-price items may be returned for store credit within 14 days of delivery. Refunds to the original payment method may be granted at our discretion. Items must be unused, unworn, and in original condition with all packaging intact. The following are final sale and cannot be returned: consumable items (candles, fragrances, soap), books, magazines, sale items, and digital products. Return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless the item was damaged or incorrect. To initiate a return, contact editorial@thira.co with your order number and reason for return.

Exchanges. If your item arrives damaged or defective, contact us immediately with photographs. If the item is in stock, we will send a replacement at no cost. If unavailable, you may choose store credit or a refund. Items showing signs of use beyond the reported defect are not eligible.

5.2 Partner-handled Orders

When you select “Buy” on a partner item, you are redirected to the partner’s website to complete your purchase. In these cases:

  • All transactions are processed by the partner brand, not Sakae, Inc.
  • Sakae, Inc. does not control pricing, inventory, shipping, or customer support for these items.
  • Returns, exchanges, and refunds are subject to the partner’s own policies.

We encourage you to review the partner brand’s terms before completing any purchase.

6. Advisory Services

Thira Advisory operates as a private practice across three services: Bespoke Itineraries, Art Advisory, and Seasonal Interiors. All advisory engagements are arranged by direct correspondence at advisory@thira.co and governed by the specific terms agreed upon in writing at the start of each engagement.

6.1 Bespoke Itineraries

Full-service private travel, handled end to end—flights, hotels, transfers, reservations, and on-the-ground support. The practice is independent: no preferred hotels, no commission arrangements, no partner programs.

6.2 Art Advisory

Personal art collection advisory for individuals building collections at home and in the personal office. The practice is independent of galleries and dealers. Engagements are built to evolve with the collection.

6.3 Seasonal Interiors

Furniture, lighting, textiles, art placement, and smaller objects, refreshed two to four times a year for a limited number of homes. No architecture, no renovation. The practice is independent: no preferred suppliers, no markup on procurement, no partner programs.

6.4 Advisory Limitation of Liability

Advisory services constitute professional recommendations, not guarantees of outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sakae, Inc.’s total liability for any claim arising from an advisory engagement is limited to the fees paid by the client for that specific engagement. Sakae, Inc. is not liable for outcomes arising from decisions made on the basis of advisory recommendations, including but not limited to changes in travel conditions, art market fluctuations, third-party supplier failures, or the performance of acquired works.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes. Prohibited activities include:

  • Unauthorized Access: attempting to interfere with Website performance or security.
  • Intellectual Property Infringement: reproducing or redistributing content without written permission.
  • Fraudulent Activity: providing false information, unauthorized transactions, or using stolen payment methods.
  • Commercial Resale: purchasing objects for resale or in bulk without prior written approval from Sakae, Inc.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account for violations of these Terms.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Website—including text, imagery, branding, layout, editorial writing, and product descriptions—is owned by Sakae, Inc. or its content creators and licensors. Use or reproduction without written permission is strictly prohibited.

9. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Relationships

The Website links to third-party sites for convenience, reference, and commerce. Sakae, Inc. is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any external site. Where affiliate relationships exist, these are disclosed in the relevant section of these Terms and at the point of link. Users should review third-party terms before engaging.

10. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

All Website content is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Sakae, Inc. does not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free functionality, or the accuracy of all published content.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sakae, Inc. is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Website, including lost data, sales, or opportunities. This includes disruption to digital product access, except where store credit is offered at our discretion as described in Section 4.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sakae, Inc., its affiliates, officers, employees, and contributors from any claims, damages, or legal actions arising from your use of the Website or violation of these Terms.

12. Force Majeure

Sakae, Inc. shall not be liable for delays or failure to perform due to causes beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, governmental actions, supply chain disruptions, or internet outages.

13. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution. Before initiating legal proceedings, you agree to contact us to attempt to resolve any concerns informally. We will make a good-faith effort to respond within 30 days.

Mediation or Arbitration. If no resolution is reached, any dispute will be submitted to confidential mediation or arbitration in New York, prior to any court filing.

Jurisdiction. All disputes shall be governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Venue shall be the state or federal courts located in New York County.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The revised version will be posted on thira.co with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Website after any revision constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered members by email.
