FAQ — Bespoke Itineraries

How does the fee structure work?
A flat planning fee, agreed before any work begins, scaled to the trip’s length and complexity. The fee is split in two—half to begin, half before reservations are made. The trip itself is invoiced at cost.

How far in advance should I get in touch?
Four to six months ahead for most trips. Six to twelve months for complex multi-country routes or peak-season travel—Italy in summer, Japan in autumn. Shorter timelines are possible, though availability gets tighter.

What’s included, and what isn’t?
Included in the fee: research, design, arrangements, logistics and support throughout the trip.
Paid separately: the trip itself—flights, hotels, restaurants, experiences—invoiced at cost. Visas and travel insurance sit outside the fee, though we can arrange both through trusted partners.

What size groups do you plan for?
From solo travelers to couples, families, and small private groups. Most trips are built for two to six. Larger groups—multi-generational travel, reunions—are welcome and planned to the same standard.

Where do you plan trips?
Anywhere. The strongest in-house experience is in Europe, Japan, the Mediterranean and parts of South Asia. Where direct experience is thinner, we work with local fixers, guides and drivers on the ground.

Can you work from a trip I’ve already started planning?
Yes. Many trips begin half-formed—a hotel booked, a rough route, dates that won’t move. We work from wherever you are, whether that’s a blank page or a plan that needs shaping.

How involved do I need to be?
As much or as little as you want. Some travelers hand over a feeling and a calendar and see the rest at the end. Others want to weigh in on every choice. Both work.

Is what I share kept private?
Yes. Where you’re going, who’s traveling, and anything shared in planning stays between us.

How is this different from a traditional travel agency?
A traditional agency works on commission and is incentivized toward its supplier network. Thira Advisory takes a flat fee. Recommendations are made for the trip, not the network.

Do you handle honeymoons, anniversaries, family trips?
Yes—honeymoons, milestone anniversaries, post-wedding family trips, significant birthdays. There’s no template; each is built from the people traveling and what they want.
