Letter from Miles #1
On beginnings, Issue 00, and what’s ahead.
To Begin
Whether you’ve been following Thira for a while or are arriving for the first time — welcome.
My name is Miles Redfer. I’m a writer and photographer, originally from New York and now based just outside London. My interests align closely with Thira’s: art, design, style, and travel — not as categories, but as ways of observing how we live.
I’ve recently taken on the editorial and retail direction of Thira.
The stories and objects you’ll find here are shaped by a shared sensibility: considered, useful, and quietly distinctive.

Issue 00
This first issue includes ten stories. The imagery is minimal, the layout intentionally light. Some of these articles will be updated — expanded with more words and visuals as they settle into their place.
Issue 01 will arrive with fifteen stories, each more fully built — more imagery, more rhythm, more depth.
Voices & Writing
For now, most of the stories are mine, with a few contributions from early collaborators. Over the next few quarters, that will begin to shift. In-house writers and contributing editors will take on more, though I’ll continue to write as well — shaping, anchoring, and staying close to the page.
The Feed & the Shop
The social feed will take shape around each issue — lightly used, but present. New imagery will appear around launches and when something meaningful is added to the shop.
Older Stories
Older pieces will remain visible. Some of the earliest will be archived — still searchable, still part of the thread, but moved quietly to the side as we go forward.
Looking Ahead
Issue 01 will be published at the end of June. After that, we’ll move to a clearer rhythm — new stories released at the beginning of each quarter, allowing space in between for slower edits, quiet additions, and time to notice what’s worth returning to.
